I am highly against child slavery but do not see how Hershey could actually end it, or even have much of an effect at all in doing so. The US their strongest market is in an economic recession and the cheap chocolate bars are the reason Hershey's isn't going belly up.

Lets say Hershey implemented the suggestions you have. What would happen? Well for starters it would cost a fortune. Farmers would not comply and neither would Governments, chocolate is in very high demand and they would be able to find another company willing to exploit children almost immediately.

Hershey's chocolate prices would soar, their market share would dip if not collapse. A competitor would sweep in to snap up the child abusing farms contracts.

Nothing would change except Hershey's would possibly bite the bullet.

The only way this changes is Government action.
-Either US Government action prohibiting use of children in the manufacturing of goods.
-The African Countries stopping the child abuse by personally getting involved
-The entire industry is united in ending child slavery and all of Hershey's competitors in act these resolutions.

But if even one chocolate company continues to buy this cheap slave made chocolate, the acts of Hershey's and other companies will be in vain.

Honestly this is not a easily fixable solution and blaming Hershey and suggesting how they could fix everything doesn't get at the root of the problem or give an actual solution.
