LIBERIA: President Sirleaf dedicates LNRCS Projects in Lofa County

Red Cross New Office In Lofa County, Liberia

The Liberian leader, President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has dedicated chapter offices of the Liberian Red Cross in Voinjama and two sub-branch offices including a guest house in Zorzor and Kolahun in Lofa County.

Speaking at the dedicatory ceremony which was part of the July 26, 2011 independence celebrations in Lofa County recently, Johnson-Sirleaf lauded the Liberian Red Cross for transforming its humanitarian programs into actual development intended to buttress the Poverty Reduction Program in the Country.

The President further praised the Liberian Red Cross for being visible in the 15 Counties helping to alleviate the plights of the people through its many humanitarian programs.

The Liberian leader who is also a chief patron of the Liberian Red Cross said the distribution of assorted relief items to the disable communities in Lofa County during the July 26 Celebration was a clear manifestation of the Red Cross determination to assisting the less fortunate in the Liberian Society.

The newly constructed sub-branch offices and guest houses in Zorzor and Kolahun was financed by the International Committee of the Red Cross, ICRC, to enhance and support the work of the Lofa Chapter of the Liberian Red Cross.

In remarks, the First Vice President of the Liberian Red Cross Emmanuel O. Kpah said the Red Cross as an auxiliary to the government will continue to provide those needed humanitarian services to vulnerable people and their communities throughout the Country.

Mr. Kpah who commended the Government for its continuous support to the work of the Liberian Red Cross, underscored the need for increase financial support to the Red Cross in order to further enhance its activities in the Country.

The LNRCS First Vice President maintained that with increase financial support from the government couple with financial and technical support from international partners the Red Cross is capable of transforming the lives of vulnerable people in the country.
