Women commit suicide in police custody in Faizabad Uttar Pradesh

I want to bring in your kind attention towards the news published in the various daily newspaper about “Women Commit Suicide in Police Custody” (surf at newspaper clipping to enlarge)

Gudiya, a resident of Safipur (Lakhauri village of Faizabad) committed suicide in police custody in Mahila Thana at Rekabganj, Faizabad on 14th August, 2011
Gudiya was arrested on Saturday by inspector RR Singh of Raunahi police station. At about 7 pm on Saturday she was shifted to Mahila Thana, Rekabganj, Faizabad to be presented before the magistrate on Sunday.

However at about 11 am on Sunday Gudiya went to the toilet in the thana where she hanged herself with a saree when the thana staff came to know that something was amiss they rushed to the toilet to find her hanging.

Therefore it is kind request for instituting a judicial inquiry under Crpc 176(1A). NHRC should also find out whether the videography of the postmortem and the report has been submitted or not. PVCHR demands that the victims family must be provided with financial compensation immediately.
