Op 19 mei 2016 verklaart Terre des Hommes op Radio1 dat er 20.000 kinderen in micamijnen werken. Westerse bedrijven waaronder HEMA, Ahold, AkzoNobel en Philips worden in het rapport ‘Beauty and a beast, Child labour in mica mining in India for sparkling cars and cosmetics´ van maart 2016, genoemd als afnemer van mica.
